About Our Family Farm

A dream of working towards something together as a family grew into something beautiful.

What has now turned into Sweet Virginia's flower farm started as a mom, dad and two kids with their hands and shovels deep in the dirt-- figuring out the whole creating-a-flower farm thing as we dug.

That summer, we dug until our whole backyard was practically grassless. We planted zinnias, cosmos and sunflowers. Excitement was in the air because we were all doing something new and doing it together.

Our first summer of having cut-flower blooms was nothing short of wonder for our family. We knew that this was something that we wanted to continue to do.

From there, the plans for Sweet Virginia's Flower Farm began to take shape.

We learned and were reminded of many things within our first year of growing. Some of these things helped us to form what we want our business to be. The top things being:

-Learning about the magic of nature and what it can bring. Whether it be through tending to it and the rewards that come from doing so, or from gifting it to those you love (or yourself) as a reminder that beauty is always near.

-Being reminded the importance of community and connection to those around you. How it is necessary and something that everyone should have. We learned that flowers are a great tool to help create community. Whether it be through a local farmer's market, classes, u-picks-- flowers provide opportunities to come together and connect. Being even a small part of creating connection within our community is something that means so much to our family.

We sincerely hope that through the flowers that we grow that you can experience both the magic of nature and a sense of community and connection to those around you.

With love,

The McMahan's
